Meet our Music Director
ARREON HARLEY, Maryland Distinguished Scholar Talent in the Arts recipient, Al Sanders Music Scholar and Burrell Leadership Scholar, is currently a Masters of Music candidate at the University of Delaware studying Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance.
He began singing with Doreen Falby and the Peabody Conservatory’s Children’s Chorus at the age of seven. When Arreon’s voice changed some years later, he moved on to sing with the Columbia Pro Cantare, under the directorship of Mrs. Frances Dawson, and began building his technique through private voice and piano lessons with Mrs. Dawson while he studied in her studio for four years. Arreon returned to the Peabody Children’s Chorus where he served diligently as a conducting intern for three years.
Arreon has had the opportunity to sing with the Columbia Festival Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Opera Company.
Arreon graduated with honors from Goucher College in Baltimore Maryland with bachelor’s degrees in Music Theory & Composition and Vocal Performance (opera). There he studied piano with Dr. Lisa Weiss, voice with Mrs. Betty Ridgeway and Conducting with Dr. Elisa Koehler.
In addition to conducting and performing countless classical works, Arreon has performed in over twenty theatrical productions including: Kiss Me Kate, Ragtime, The Curious Savage, Bye Bye Birdie, Up the Down Staircase, Once Upon a mattress, and Me and My Girl. Arreon is currently further building his vocal technique in the Dr. Noel Archambeault Voice Studio. He also studies Choral Conducting performance and pedagogy with pedagogue Dr. Paul D. Head at the University of Delaware.
